An unforgettable experience is provided by the Montafon-Runde. It leads through the three mountain ranges, the Rätikon, Silvretta and Verwall. This hike from lodge to lodge reflects the differing character of these ranges. This unique hike leads from the Sulzfluh-Dolomite zone in the Rätikon via the crystalline rocks of the Silvretta, with its glaciers, to the magnificent array of flowers in the Verwall. It can be a week’s hike, starting for example from the Douglashütte mountain lodge and heading for the Heinrich-Hueter Hütte and the Lindauer Hütte. From there over the Bilkengrat ridge to the Tilisuna-Hütte and Gargellen, then through the Valzifenztal valley to the Tübinger Hütte. On the way to the Saarbrücker Hütte we come across glaciers for the first time. From the Saarbrücker Hütte we move on to the Wiesbadner Hütte. As we continue to the Neue Heilbronner-Hütte we change to the Verwall mountains. The final stage takes us over the Wormser Höhenweg altitude trail to the Wormser-Hütte. Of course it’s possible to do the Montafon-Runde in several sections. Besides videos of the individual trails linking the lodges, hiking maps with the routes specially marked are also available to download. Further information is available from the owners of the Montafon lodges, from Montafon-Tourismus and the local tourist offices or at www.montafonrunde.at.
