Jazz Summit Montafon

The renowned Berlin Jazz School has been holding its summer workshops in the Montafon since 2012. For four weeks, the high mountain scenery becomes a classroom. Besides fresh mountain air, the friends of swing, bop and co. sniff lots of blues. For the fourth time, the Munich drumming school “drummer’s focus” extends an invitation to Gaschurn for a musical summer break. The open offers of the two talent makers complement each other in the stimulating atmosphere to create the perfect sound laboratory.
In the face of the three-thousand-metre peaks of the Silvretta, the lecturers at the Tübinger Chalet took stock of their gathering. They now present themselves to the audience for the closing communiqué of the 4th Jazz Summit in the Montafon: Jürgen Weishaupt from “drumer’s focus” usually drums around the globe with drum & bass projects and the exceptional formation “Power!Percussion”. Wolfgang Obert and his saxophones and flutes belong to the proven crew around the director of Jazzschule Berlin, Claus Rückbeil. This year, in addition to the guitar, he brings his new great love with him, the Indian bamboo flute known as the ‘bansuri’. New to the team is Anders Grop. With tuba and double bass, the Swede travels the world from Berlin and brings a new colour to the game with gipsy jazz.
