When the old 14th century church became too small, it was demolished in 1892 and the foundation stone for the new church laid on 3 July 1892. It was built in the New Gothic style from plans by Vienna’s master cathedral builder Freiherr von Schmidt. The festive consecration was held on 12 October 1893 by the suffragan bishop Dr. Zobl. The Silbertal parish church was painted by the artist Hans Martin from Munich in 1896.
