Safe in the mountains

COVID-19 security measures winter 2021/22

Together through the winter

Updated: November 25, 2021

The health of our guests and our employees is very important to us, which is why we, together with our partners in the Montafon, have been doing everything possible since the beginning of the pandemic to ensure a safe stay in the Montafon.  In addition to the weekly tests for employees in hotels, restaurants, mountain railways, mountain sports schools, mountain guides, etc., we have taken the following measures:

What WE do for a carefree stay

In general: Use of the mountain railways and ski lifts is only possible with 2G proof. Additionally wearing a FFP2 mask is compulsory in closed lifts, indoor rooms and waiting areas.

  • 2G rule: There is a 2G obligation (vaccinated or recovered) for the transport with a cable car for tourist purposes. The 2G proof is checked during the selling process or before the first use.
  • FFP2 mask compulsory: An FFP2 mask must be worn in closed and covered vehicles, during chairlift rides, in the ticket hall and while queuing
    •  For people over the age of 14, an FFP2 mask must be worn at all times.
    • A buff or a cloth mask is sufficient for children from 6 years of age.
    • There is no MNS obligation for children under 6 years of age.
    • Masks are available on site.
    • People without mouth and nose protection (depending on age) may not be transported in the gondolas!
  • Waiting areas: Regardless of the current legal requirements, we will organize waiting areas in such a way that groups of people standing close together are avoided as much as possible.
  • Disinfection options: We have installed hand disinfection dispensers on our cable cars and in the mountain restaurants.
  • Disinfection of the cable car cabins: All cable car cabins are disinfected daily with a special cold fogger.
  • 2-G-rule - Geimpft/Vaccinated or Genesen/recovered (people aged 12 years and older): Access is only permitted after presentation of a vaccination certificate or a confirmation of a previous illness
  • Guest registration: Mandatory registration at the table of consumption, till July 22, 2021.
  • Cleaning: Tables, bar areas, door handles, sanitary facilities, etc. are cleaned and disinfected more often than usual.
  • Available in the online shop: We recommend that you buy your ski tickets conveniently and stress-free in advance from home in Online-Shop and, if possible, collect them contactlessly at a cash desk or a machine.
  • PICK UP STATIONS: Print out your lift ticket at our PICK UP STATION in Gargellen contactlessly and without queuing.
  • Advantages: No queuing at the cash desk, straight through the turnstile, faster on the mountain and less contact with others.
  • Get your ticket now!
  •  Compulsory wearing of FFP2 face masks: In the PME sports shop, an FFP2 mask is mandatory for clients and employees.
  • Regular tests: The Montafon is one of five pilot regions in all of Austria in which the employees of the accommodation providers have been tested for COVID-19 once a week since the beginning of June. In winter, employees in restaurants, hotels, mountain railways with customer contact and ski instructors are also regularly tested.
  • Corona safety officers: The companies have trained Corona safety officers in a wide variety of departments who ensure that the current regulations are implemented and complied with immediately.

We recommend our guests to use the  Stopp Corona App  from the "Red Cross Austria" so that they can receive information anonymously as quickly as possible.

My day skiing in the Montafon

The 2-G rule applies to the purchase of a one day ski pass from 15th of November.

  • For the purchase of a season ticket or multi-day ticket, the 2-G rule applies from 15th of November.
  • Vaccinated and recovered persons only have to show their 2-G certificate once when purchasing the ticket. An than they are able to use the ticket until the certificate expires.
  • Children under the age of twelve are exempt from the 2-G rule. For young people between 12-15 years of age, the Corona Test Pass "Ninja Pass" of the school tests is also acceptable as 2-G proof.
  • In case of issuance of multi-day tickets by third parties (e.g. by accommodation providers), the corresponding 2-G check can also be carried out by them.
  • If season tickets were already sold before the ordinance came into force, the 2-G proof must be presented before entering for the first time.
  • The 2-G rule doesn't apply to the use of the cable car or cogwheel railway to cover necessary basic needs of daily life (for example to reach the place of residence or work, to ensure basic supplies, etc.).

With the entry into force of the 2-G regulation on 15 November, the obligation to wear masks in gondolas and cabins will be lifted.

Nevertheless, we recommend wearing an FFP2 mask in the checkout areas, when queuing, in gondolas and during chairlift rides to protect others.

Irrespective of the current legal requirements, the queuing areas are organised in such a way that groups of people standing close together are avoided as far as possible. Please keep your distance from strangers if possible.

All cable cars and chair lifts are ventilated as well as possible during the ride. Please also ensure ventilation during the ride (open windows, open the weather protection hood, etc.)

All the cable cars are regularly disinfected with a special cold fogging device. The special cold fog produces a long-lasting, floating mist of droplets that eliminates 99.99% of all viruses, bacteria and spores on surfaces within a very short time. The active ingredient leaves no residue, is non-toxic, pH neutral, kind to the skin and eyes and 100% biodegradable.

You will find hand sanitiser dispensers at the cable car stations, in the mountain restaurants and in the sanitary facilities.

We recommend buying ski tickets conveniently and stress-free in advance from home in our online shop and, if possible, picking them up contactless from a ticket machine or at the cash desk.

When buying a season or annual ticket, there is a free pandemic coverage!

  • If the operation of the mountain railways and ski lifts is stopped due to extraordinary coincidences or force majeure, such as war, pandemics, epidemics, natural disasters or the like, the customer (if the card has been used for less than 15 days) is entitled to an aliquot reimbursement of the price paid, if all mountain railways within the card network have ceased operations and this cessation of operations affects more than half of the planned operating days in the respective season. In this case, an aliquot reimbursement will be made to the effect that the customer is to be reimbursed that part of the price in which the cessation of operations took place. You can find more about this in the terms and conditions.
  • When purchasing a multi-day ticket, the days not used will be reimbursed if the season is interrupted or a Covid19 infection occurs.
