Hiking: Life as a dairy farmer on the Innerkapellalpe

Life on the alp is characterised by intense experiences of nature and, at the same time, by hard work. A dairymaid’s or dairyman’s day often begins before sunrise and does not end until the evening. On the way to the Innerkapellalpe, you’ll hike through a varied cultural landscape, past lush meadows and sparse woods, with sweeping views of the Montafon mountains opening up time and again. This scenic yet informative tour offers you an insight into everyday life on the alp – accessible, unspoilt and full of stories.

Meeting point: 10:30 a.m. Hochjoch Bahn Schruns valley station

Route: Kapell mountain station – Innerkapellalpe – Kapell mountain station

Duration: approx. 4.5 hours (pure walking time: approx. 2.5 - 3 hours)

Ascent and descent: approx. 350 m elevation gain

Refreshment stop: Innerkapellalpe (cold platter, cheese platter and drinks)

Price: 20% discount with the Montafon guest card (Montafon guest card must be presented). Free for guests from BergePLUS partner establishments (Montafon guest card with BergePLUS imprint must be presented).

Getting there: Why not leave your car behind? Our tours are timed to coincide with the bus timetable. You can reach the meeting point by public transport via the Hochjoch Bahn bus stop (vmobil.at). If you’re travelling in your own car, paid parking spaces are available at the Hochjoch Bahn car park in Schruns.

Equipment:

• Bring a rucksack with drinks and rain/sun protection
• Hiking boots with treaded soles are necessary
• Hiking poles are recommended.

• Tours can take place in all weather conditions, short-term route changes are possible (weather dependent)
