Snowshoe hiking in the Montafon

Snowshoe hiking in the Montafon, Vorarlberg

You can combine nature, relaxation and exercise on a snowshoe hike.

Known for its ski areas, Vorarlberg awaits with numerous sporting opportunities away from the ski pistes. Crystal clear mountain air, perfect silence apart from the sound of fresh snow crunching under your shoes, and above all breath-taking panoramic views of the Rätikon, Silvretta and Verwall on the horizon: this is how good the Montafon winter feels on snowshoes, also known as bear paws. You’ll come closer to your personal winter fairy tale with each step through the untouched winter landscape.

On these giant “paws”, you will discover nature and enjoy the silence while snowshoe hiking. The 150 kilometres of marked routes and guided tours lead through the snowy winter landscape, across glittering fields of snow and through enchanting forests.

An idyllic winter in the Silvretta mountains

Snowshoe hiking on the Silvretta-Bielerhöhe

Surrounded by the majestic 3000ers of the Silvretta mountain range, this guided snowshoe hike leads to the southernmost point in Vorarlberg through a beautiful winter backdrop. The day begins early in the morning in Partenen with the impressive Vermuntbahn ascent. The tunnel buses are already waiting at the summit station to take winter athletes through the Vermunt tunnels toward Silvretta-Bielerhöhe. Arriving at 2,037 metres, the frozen Silvrettasee is at your feet - pure winter pleasure!

No prior experience is necessary for snowshoe hiking, simply a certain physical condition and a lot of love for the mountain idyll.
