Tour description
From Partenen to Bludenz, heading out of the valley and back again: This bike tour connects the Montafon region along a long, varied route. What makes it special is that you decide for yourself where your tour begins and ends. Along the route, there are numerous opportunities to join the trail, ride individual sections, or shorten the tour to suit your preferences.
The entire route runs from Partenen through Gaschurn, St. Gallenkirch, Tschagguns, Schruns, Vandans, St. Anton im Montafon, and Lorüns to Bludenz. The return trip follows the same route.
If you start in Partenen, you’ll first head out of the valley toward Gaschurn. Along the way, you’ll pass the Rifa Basin and the Rifa climbing garden, where there’s a rest area and picnic spot perfect for your first break. In Gaschurn, it’s worth taking a detour to the town center to see the parish church, the dance pavilion, and the Alpine and Tourism Museum.
Continuing out of the valley, the route leads through Gortipohl and St. Gallenkirch. In Gortipohl, the Brönna Kneipp facility is a great spot for a refreshing break. Along the way, you’ll also pass the Mountain Beach amusement park and the valley station of the Garfrescha Cable Car.
At the Maurentobel Tunnel, the bike path follows the old road. From there, the route continues along the Ill River toward Tschagguns. Some sections wind through pleasantly shaded forest paths right next to the river. Passing the golf course and the Montafon Adventure Park, you’ll eventually reach Schruns-Tschagguns.
From here, follow the bike path further out of the valley via Kaltenbrunnen and Vandans. It’s worth making a quick stop at the Venser Bild Chapel. The route then continues via Lorüns to Bludenz.
Once you arrive in Bludenz, you can take a break, stop for a bite to eat, or explore the historic old town. Afterward, head back along the same route.
