Illweg circle Tschagguns

Approach

Take the A14 to the Bludenz/Montafon exit and continue on Montafonerstraße L188 to the Rätikon junction Schruns-Tschagguns. Turn right there and follow the road into the center of Tschagguns.

Regional buses operate throughout Montafon. The main lines run every half hour from Schruns train station.

Arrival by train to Montafon

The Montafon railway runs from Bludenz station every hour (partly every half hour). There are also direct connections from Lindau (D) and Bregenz.

Parking

Parking is available opposite Hotel Crest and the "Alte Gme".

Directions

The comfortable Ill loop starts in the town center of Tschagguns. First, follow Zelfenstraße a short distance downstream. Then turn left onto August-Jochum Weg and follow the path slightly downhill. This path takes you down to Illweg. Next, follow Illweg downstream to Aktivpark Montafon (white tent). From the Aktivpark Montafon parking lot, continue downstream to the height of the Montafon golf course. The signpost says "Bödmensteig Steg." Cross the Ill bridge and follow the path on the opposite side of the Ill back to Tschagguns. The path ends shortly before the Rätikon junction in Schruns-Tschagguns (near the Sutterlüty grocery store). Cross the Ill bridge once again and follow August-Jochum Weg back to the starting point.

Make sure to wear sturdy footwear suitable for the conditions.

Tips

This route is marked with the pink number 17 on the overview map "Aktivkarte Schnee." The map is available for free at the Montafon tourist offices.
