Starting point
Partenen, downtown
Directions
From the church in Partenen, first follow the village road into the valley until you reach the “Old Gas Station.” From there, the trail leads you toward Ganifer and Kops. Passing under the Lifinar T-bar lift, you’ll reach Stelli via Lifinar. Then follow the signs toward Partenen Loch.
At Partenen Loch, at 1,128 meters, the trail continues toward Bellamaisäß. After crossing a small bridge, you’ll reach the highest point of the hike. From Bellamaisäß, you’ll continue hiking with a beautiful view of Partenen to the toll booth on the Silvretta High Alpine Road and then toward the Vermuntbahn.
Along the way, you’ll pass the Gufelste, a striking split rock formation, which is the subject of a legend about an ancient conflict between people from the Lower Engadine and the Montafon. The trail continues out of the valley, past the Partenen swimming pool. A short detour takes you to the Europatreppe 4000 with its 3,600 steps.
Then you’ll walk back a short distance along the road and down across the meadow to the Vermunt power plant. Passing the Rifa reservoir and crossing Montafonerstraße, you’ll reach Kopswerk I. Hiking back into the valley along Dorfstraße, past Bishop Rudigier’s birthplace and the Vallülasaal, you’ll return to the starting point.
