Latschau via ferrata

Accompanied by a Montafon mountain guide, the easily accessible via ferrata at the Latschau reservoir is ideal for families who want to gain their first experience of via ferrata together. With difficulty levels ranging from A to C, children and adults can practise using the via ferrata kit safely, and it is possible to exit the route at any time. In the afternoon, the rock face here is particularly sunny. You’ll be treated to views of the nearby Zimba, also known as the ‘Matterhorn of the Montafon’.

Meeting point: 10.00 am, 12.00 pm or 2.00 pm at the Latschau climbing crag.

Duration: approx. 1.5 hours (climbing time only: 1 hour)

Getting here: Why not leave your car behind? Our tours are timed to coincide with the bus timetable. You can reach the meeting point by public transport via the ‘Latschau Golmerbahn’ or ‘Latschau Kraftwerk’ bus stops (vmobil.at). If you’re travelling in your own car, free parking is available at the car park at the Golmerbahn’s Latschau middle station.

Uncertain weather: In wet conditions and on wet rock (due to rain in the morning), it is highly likely that climbing will not be possible (risk of slipping) – in this case, your booking will be cancelled free of charge and you will be informed. Unfortunately, it is not possible to arrange an alternative date within the regular schedule.

Age limit: 6 years and over (minimum height 1.30 metres)

Equipment:

• Closed-toe hiking boots with good-grip soles 
• In cold weather, warm clothing (hat, gloves, etc.) is recommended 
• You will be provided with a via ferrata set by your mountain guide on site

Notes:

• Participants must be physically active, but do not necessarily need previous climbing experience.
• Participants acknowledge that there is a residual risk involved in participating in the program.
