Das 1996 gegründete Kunstforum Montafon ist ein lebendiger Ort für zeitgenössische Kunst, kreative Entfaltung und persönliche Begegnung. In der ehemaligen Lodenfabrik in Schruns stehen ganzjährig sorgfältig adaptierte Räume für Ausstellungen, Seminare und Workshops zur Verfügung. Das hochwertige Kursprogramm richtet sich an Anfänger ebenso wie an Fortgeschrittene und lädt dazu ein, die eigene Kreativität inmitten der Montafoner Bergwelt weiterzuentwickeln. Mit seinem engagierten Ausstellungsprogramm, das vorwiegend zeitgenössische Positionen österreichischer Künstlerinnen und Künstler präsentiert, hat sich das Kunstforum Montafon als renommierte Begegnungsstätte für Kunst etabliert.

Thematische Gruppenausstellungen sind ein fixer Bestandteil in unserem Ausstellungsprogramm: die erste war 2004 „ Der weiße Tod – Lawinen“, zuletzt 2024 „WASSER.KRAFT“ und 2025 "KRIEG UND/ODER FRIEDEN?". Die Gruppenausstellung 2026 knüpft inhaltlich an die 2016 von Verena Kaspar-Eisert kuratierten Schau „MUSTERSTÜCKE oder ON HOW WE PERCEIVE THE WORLD“ an. Damals zeigte sie sechs Positionen von Künstlerinnen aus der Sammlung des Landes Vorarlberg und stellte sie aktuellen Werken derselben Künstlerinnen gegenüber. Letztendlich wurde der Titel dann auf „FILTER“ vereinfacht. Dieses Mal, 2026, geht es – bei gleich bleibendem Konzept – um eine andere Sammlung, die der illwerke vkw AG, dem größten Energieunternehmen Vorarlbergs, und damit geht auch ein lange gehegter Wunsch sowohl von Frau Kaspar-Eisert als auch des künstlerischen Leiters Roland Haas in Erfüllung: nach vielen Gesprächen hat sich die illwerke vkw bereit erklärt, ihre Sammlung zu öffnen und einige Werke daraus im Kunstforum zu zeigen. Wiederum gibt es eine Gegenüberstellung der Werke aus der Sammlung (die teilweise schon mehr als 25 Jahre alt sind) mit ganz aktuellen Arbeiten der sieben Künstler:innen.

Founded in 1996, the Kunstforum Montafon is a vibrant hub for contemporary art, creative expression, and personal encounters. Located in the former loden factory in Schruns, the space features carefully renovated rooms available year-round for exhibitions, seminars, and workshops. The high-quality course program is designed for both beginners and advanced participants and invites visitors to further develop their creativity amidst the mountainous landscape of the Montafon. With its dedicated exhibition program, which primarily showcases contemporary works by Austrian artists, the Kunstforum Montafon has established itself as a renowned hub for art.

Thematic group exhibitions are a regular feature of our exhibition program: the first was “The White Death—Avalanches”in 2004, followed most recently by“WATER.POWER”in 2024 and“WAR AND/OR PEACE?” in 2025. The 2026 group exhibition builds upon the 2016 show “MUSTERSTÜCKE or ON HOW WE PERCEIVE THE WORLD,” curated by Verena Kaspar-Eisert. At that time, she featured six works by female artists from the Vorarlberg State Collection and juxtaposed them with current works by the same artists. Ultimately, the title was simplified to “FILTER.” This time, in 2026—while maintaining the same concept—the focus is on a different collection: that of illwerke vkw AG, Vorarlberg’s largest energy company. This also fulfills a long-held wish of both Ms. Kaspar-Eisert and Artistic Director Roland Haas: After many discussions, illwerke vkw has agreed to open its collection and display some of the works from it at the Kunstforum. Once again, there will be a juxtaposition of works from the collection (some of which are more than 25 years old) with very recent works by the seven artists.

For 30 years, the Kunstforum Montafon has offered a range of engaging opportunities to explore art—through high-quality seminars and workshops that consistently inspire many people who want to get creative themselves. In the current exhibition “WERK.SCHAU,” we are showcasing a selection of works created in over 20 courses.

As part of this exhibition, we’re also presenting the 2027 seminar program.
