The first chapel was consecrated around 1503 by Bishop Stefanus as a branch church of St. Gallenkirch. After it was destroyed by an avalanche in 1694, the current branch church was dedicated by Bishop Ulrich of Chur. The Empire-style high altar, dating from 1852, is dedicated to the church’s patron saint, St. Nicholas. The organ dates from the 17th century and is likely one of the oldest in the Montafon.
