The cornerstone for the late Baroque parish church in Innerberg was laid in 1791. Construction progressed rapidly under the direction of Josef Vonier, a master builder from Schruns, and Johann Anton Fritz, a master mason from Dalaas, so that the church could be consecrated and put into use the following year. But it was not until 1820 that Bishop Bernhard Galura of Feldkirch consecrated the church to the Immaculate Conception of Mary. In 1869, the Schruns artist Franz Bertle created the high altarpiece “Maria Immaculata.” The high altar itself, with its four-column structure, dates back to 1792 and originates from St. Jakob in the Tyrolean Oberland. Among the masterpieces of the Innerberg church is the marbled and gilded pulpit featuring portraits of the four Evangelists—John, Mark, Luke, and Matthew.
In 1845, the first organ was installed in this church, though it has since been modified several times. In 1943, the Gebrüder Mayer company from Feldkirch built a completely new organ. The newly created case façade is reminiscent of the so-called Empire style, which emerged during the Napoleonic era.
