Tour description

Matschwitz (mid station Golmerbahn) - Maisäß settlement circular route The Maisäß settlement Matschwitz (1,500 m) is only accessible in winter via the Golmerbahn. This circular route offers a very beautiful view of the opposite Verwall mountain range with the Rote Wand (2,704 m) and Hochjoch. To the south in the Rätikon range, the peaks Tschaggunser Mittagsspitze and Schwarzhorn (2,460 m) can be seen. Along this sunny winter hiking trail are very beautiful old Maisäß farmsteads, some of which have been converted into holiday apartments. The monument-protected chapel Matschwitz lies very idyllically. The newly renovated mountain restaurant "Haus Matschwitz" is located in the immediate vicinity. This hike is ideal for a wonderful winter hike in the mountains and to meet friends who are in the Golm ski area for lunch at "Haus Matschwitz". Excellent cuisine!
Approach

Take the A14 to the Bludenz/Montafon exit and continue on Montafonerstraße L188 to Tschagguns. Through Tschagguns you reach the higher situated Latschau.

Public transport

Just leave your car standing.

Local buses operate throughout Montafon. The main lines depart every half hour from Schruns station.

Arrival by train to Montafon

From Bludenz station the Montafonerbahn runs hourly (partly half-hourly). There are also direct connections from Lindau (D) and Bregenz.

Parking

Parking is available directly at the Golmerbahn in Latschau.

Directions

From the mid station of the Golmerbahn at Matschwitz, the hike leads in a loop along the marked path through the wintry Maisäß landscape.

Equipment

Make sure to wear sturdy, condition-appropriate footwear.

Tips

This route is marked with the pink number 24 on the overview map "Aktivkarte Schnee". The map is available free of charge at the Montafon tourism offices.
