Tourbeschreibung

The path shows a new facet of the valley with its villages, scattered settlements, and cultural areas, highlighting electricity generation as an important economic factor of the region. Along the lifeline Ill, the route with a great view of the Vallüla leads from St. Gallenkirch to Gaschurn, with a rather agricultural character to Partenen, where the topic of energy becomes increasingly present.

Approach

Take the A14 to the Bludenz/Montafon exit and continue on the Montafonerstraße L188 to St. Gallenkirch.

Local buses operate throughout Montafon. The main lines run every half hour from Schruns station.

Arrival by train to Montafon

From Bludenz station, the Montafonerbahn runs hourly (partly every half hour). There are also direct connections from Lindau (D) or from Bregenz.

Directions

From the valley station of the Valisera Bahn in St. Gallenkirch, you follow Illweg along to Partenen. On your way, you not only pass two swimming pools but also beautiful forest and meadow paths past the Chapel Maria Schnee. You cross to the other side of the Ill and the road and continue straight towards Obertrantrauas and Außerbofa. Along Illweg it leads you to Partenen. After the Vermunt power plant and the valley station of the Vermuntbahn, you reach the bridge, here you cross the road and stream side again and walk on the sidewalk for about 150 m downstream. To the left, it now goes towards the church and Partenen center, where you have reached your destination.

Day hiking backpack (approx. 20 liters) with rain cover, sturdy and comfortable footwear, weather-appropriate and durable clothing in a layering system, if necessary telescopic poles, sun and rain protection, provisions and drinking water, first aid kit, pocket knife, mobile phone, if necessary headlamp, map material

Tips

On hot summer days, you can cool off on the way at the all-weather pool Aquarena or the Partenen swimming pool.
