From the starting point of the route at Silvretta Park (Valisera Bahn valley station), you first follow the main road in the direction of Gargellen and then turn right onto the Eggaweg. The path is initially still paved and changes to gravel after about one kilometer. The path steadily ascends through the forest on switchbacks, passing individual maize settlements; from time to time, the panoramic view over St. Gallenkirch invites you to take a short break. From the Gweilmaisalpe, the path leads downhill again over a steeper ramp to the alpine pasture.
