Museum Frühmesshaus

The Frühmesshaus in Bartholomäberg, which has stood since 1657, has served as a museum since June 2009 and, as an outstanding architectural monument, enriches the town center. For centuries, the “Frühmesser” was the second priest in the village and was responsible, among other duties, for celebrating the early morning Mass. What makes the Early Mass House in Bartholomäberg special is its location, which offers a unique panoramic view of the valley. This is also where the historical roots of the Montafon’s settlement history lie, and for a long time, Bartholomäberg was the valley’s main town. The museum highlights, in particular, the region’s Baroque architectural heritage. The outstanding architecture of the early Baroque building, along with masterpieces of Baroque furnishings, provide an atmospheric setting for exhibitions on the cultural history of the Montafon as well as the fascinating history of the local community of Bartholomäberg. The special exhibitions draw on the local area as well as on the key themes featured in other Montafon museums.

Admission prices: Combined ticket for all four museums: €9.00; combined tickets have no time limit (children and teens [up to age 18] free)

Guided tours outside regular opening hours are available at any time by appointment
