Tour description
A varied road bike tour for anyone who wants to experience the Montafon on an extended loop. Starting at the Aktivpark Montafon, the route takes you to Gargellen and Partenen, then via Schruns into the Silbertal valley and on through Bartholomäberg to St. Anton im Montafon. From there, you’ll return to the starting point.
Several long climbs, fast descents, and quiet side roads ensure that the loop remains challenging while offering plenty of variety.
The starting point is the Aktivpark Montafon in Schruns-Tschagguns. From here, you’ll first ride into the valley toward St. Gallenkirch and then continue uphill to Gargellen. The tour’s first long climb takes you to this high-altitude mountain village. Once you reach the top, it’s a good idea to take a short break before riding back down into the valley along the same route.
You’ll then continue further into the valley via Gaschurn to Partenen, reaching the second furthest point of the loop. After the descent back through the valley, the route takes you via St. Gallenkirch back to Schruns.
But the loop is far from over: From Schruns, the route heads into the Silbertal. The road winds steadily deeper into the valley, offering repeated views of the surrounding mountains. The next climb— Bartholomäberg —awaits you.
The climb takes you to the sunny side of the Montafon. Here, the view of the valley changes dramatically once more. After the subsequent descent, the loop continues on to St. Anton im Montafon.
From St. Anton, the route finally heads back to Schruns-Tschagguns and the Aktivpark Montafon, where the grand Montafon road bike loop comes full circle.
