Tour description

Starting at the Aktivpark Montafon in Schruns-Tschagguns, this varied bike tour takes you along the Ill River to Partenen and back along the same route. Along the way, you’ll alternate between shaded forest sections, open valley areas, and interesting stops along the way.

The starting point is the Aktivpark Montafon in Schruns-Tschagguns. From here, follow the bike path into the valley along the Ill River. Passing the golf course, the route initially heads toward Bödmenstein. Along the way, you’ll cross to the other side of the river several times and cycle through pleasantly shaded sections right along the Ill.

At the Maurentobel Tunnel, the bike path continues deeper into the valley via the old road. Here you’ll encounter a short, somewhat steeper climb before rejoining the bike path along the main road.

Via St. Gallenkirch, you’ll reach Gortipohl. By this point at the latest, the increasing incline toward Partenen is clearly noticeable. The Brönna Kneipp facility, not far from the route, offers a welcome break. There, you can refresh yourself and refill your water bottle with fresh spring water.

The bike path then continues past Mountain Beach to Gaschurn. In the town center, it’s worth making a quick stop at the parish church, the dance pavilion, or the Alpine and Tourism Museum.

From Gaschurn, the route continues deeper into the valley toward the Rifa Basin. Here, the bike path runs along the edge of the forest beside the water and then past the Rifa climbing garden, which offers places to rest and picnic.

From there, it’s just a few kilometers to the center of Partenen. Here you’ll find various options for stopping for refreshments and a break before heading back along the same route to the Montafon Adventure Park.

Tips

Refreshment in Gortipohl: The Brönna Kneipp facility is ideal for a quick break along the way. Especially on warm days, the cool water provides a pleasant refreshment.

Discover Gaschurn: Plan a little extra time for the town center. The parish church, dance pavilion, and Alpine and Tourism Museum are all close together and can easily be incorporated into your bike tour.

Break at the Rifa Basin: Around the Rifa Basin and at the Rifa climbing garden, you’ll find lovely spots for a short rest or a picnic.

Customize the tour: If the entire route to Partenen and back is too long for you, you can turn back as early as St. Gallenkirch, Gortipohl, or Gaschurn and shorten the tour accordingly.
