Approach

Coming from Bludenz, take the Bludenz/Montafon motorway exit and follow the L188 into Montafon to Partenen (Vermuntbahn).

Just leave your car parked

The regional buses of Montafonerbahn operate throughout Montafon. The main lines run hourly from Schruns station.

From Schruns station, take bus line 650 to Partenen. The stop is: "Bergbahnen". From the bus stop, it is a five-minute walk to the valley station of the Vermuntbahn cable car. From there, continue with the Vermuntbahn and the tunnel bus to reach Silvretta-Bielerhöhe with Lake Silvretta.

For the return journey

Take bus line 650 from Partenen back to Schruns station.

Arrival by train

The Montafonerbahn runs hourly from Bludenz station (sometimes every half hour). There are direct connections from Lindau (D) and Bregenz as well.

Parking

Parking is available at the valley station of the Vermuntbahn in Partenen.

Directions

The route starts directly at the dam (slightly left of the Piz Buin guesthouse). Initially, the trail descends gently, then ascends slightly and runs nicely flat over the dam of Lake Silvretta.

Equipment

Cross-country ski equipment can be rented at Berggasthof Piz Buin. There are also changing facilities and lockers for cross-country skiers.

Tips

In Montafon, the cross-country ski trails can be used free of charge.
