Tour description

A challenging via ferrata on the finest Rätikon limestone that takes you through steep and, in places, slightly overhanging rock faces. As a reward, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views down into Lake Partnun and a sweeping panorama of the surrounding mountains.

The Partnunblick via ferrata is the challenging continuation of the family via ferrata and is one of the most demanding routes in the Rätikon. Vertical sections, short overhanging stretches, and exposed traverses require strength, endurance, and sound climbing technique.

The view down to Lake Partnun is particularly impressive. Those who use the family via ferrata as an approach can warm up on the rock beforehand.

Start - Directions - Descent

Access

From the Tilisuna Hut, follow the marked hiking trail toward Partnun and continue over the Tilisuna Pass toward the Carschina Hut. Just above Lake Partnun, the signposted approach to the family via ferrata branches off.

The best way to reach the Partnunblick via ferrata is via the family via ferrata. From its exit, continue through the Gemstobel valley and you’ll reach the start of the route in about 20 minutes.

Route Description

The via ferrata leads through a steep limestone cliff and offers varied sections with vertical and slightly overhanging passages. In addition to upper-body strength and good physical conditioning, a head for heights, sure-footedness, and experience with via ferrata are required.

During the ascent, impressive views down into Lake Partnun and the Rätikon mountain range open up time and again.

Descent

The marked descent trail begins right at the exit. Follow it back toward Tilisunafürkele and then take the well-known approach trail to the Tilisuna Hut.

Getting to the starting point

Getting to the Starting Point

We recommend Latschau as the starting point for the approach to the via ferrata. Please note that the hike to the Tilisuna Hut takes several hours.

By public transportation:

The Montafon regional bus and the Montafonerbahn provide convenient and flexible travel throughout the valley. Trains and buses run regularly between the towns, every half hour or every hour depending on the route. You can find the right connection here. Bus stop for the start/end of this tour: Latschau Golmerbahn

By car:

Take the A14 to the Bludenz/Montafon exit, then follow the Montafoner Straße L188 to Tschagguns and continue on to Latschau to the Latschau hiking parking lot (fee applies).

Important Information

You climb the via ferrata at your own risk and on your own responsibility. Please check the weather, current conditions, snow conditions, and difficulty level in advance. Realistically assess your experience, surefootedness, ability to handle heights, and physical fitness.

A complete set of standard-compliant via ferrata equipment is absolutely essential. This includes a hip belt, via ferrata set, helmet, and gloves. Equally important is appropriate footwear: sturdy, ankle-high hiking boots with good traction.

Your backpack should also include plenty of food, sun and rain protection, and a first-aid kit.

In the Montafon, you can rent high-quality via ferrata equipment at select sports shops. Please check in advance regarding availability, sizes, and reservation options.

Useful tips
