The Lünerseewerk in Latschau/Vandans features a visitor center that provides a wealth of interesting information about electricity generation in the Montafon.
When it went into operation in 1958, the Lünerseewerk was the most powerful pumped-storage power plant in the world. The pioneering achievement at the time was that the Lünerseewerk’s pumps could transport water from Latschau through a ten-kilometer-long tunnel and over 1,000 meters in elevation back into Lake Lünersee.
Take a look inside the machine hall, learn more about the Illwerke vkw companies, or watch a detailed demonstration of how a Lünerseewerk machine works using a model.

In addition to the Lünersee Power Plant and its exhibition hall, Latschau offers numerous other attractions. Directly in front of the power plant is the Latschau reservoir, around which a hiking trail winds. You can learn interesting facts about the forest on the Kristakopf Nature Trail.
