Tour description

A varied mountain bike tour to three striking reservoirs in the Silvretta region, taking you through the Ganifertal valley, past the Kops Reservoir, and over the Silvretta-Bielerhöhe to Lake Vermunt.

From Silvretta Park Montafon in St. Gallenkirch, you’ll ride through Partenen and the sometimes steep Ganifertal valley to the Kops Reservoir, then on over the Zeinisjoch Pass to Galtür, and from there up to Lake Silvretta at over 2,000 meters. The route then takes you downhill to Vermunt Lake, where you’ll turn back due to the closure of the Silvretta High Alpine Road and return to St. Gallenkirch via the same route through the Silvretta-Bielerhöhe, Galtür, and Kops Reservoir.

The Silvretta High Alpine Road is expected to remain closed until summer 2030. This is due to several rockfalls and mudslides since 2024, as well as the extensive construction and protective measures required as a result. The route is therefore currently accessible via the Ganifertal Valley, the Kops Reservoir, and Galtür to Lake Vermunt.

At Vermuntsee, it is not possible to continue on toward Partenen due to the closure. There, you must turn back and take the same route via the Silvretta-Bielerhöhe, Galtür, and Kops back to the Montafon.

Be sure to allow enough time for short breaks at the three lakes: The Kops Reservoir impresses with its curved dam; at Lake Silvretta, you’ll be treated to a sweeping panorama of the high-Alpine mountain landscape; and Lake Vermunt is also impressively nestled among the surrounding peaks.

The tour includes several long and steep climbs. Being in good physical condition is therefore a definite advantage, especially on the section through the Ganifertal valley and on the climb from Galtür to the Silvretta-Bielerhöhe.
