After taking the Gargellner Schafbergbahn up the mountain, follow the signs toward St. Antönier Joch until you reach the Kristallbahn mountain station. From there, a trail leads left along the ridge to a saddle. Then, head slightly right across the slope and continue along a gravel path to the trailhead.
Route description
After the start, the via ferrata first leads over a sloping ridge rated B in difficulty. This is followed by a small ledge, a steep section rated C, and an easier wall section rated B, before you reach a protrusion.
The trails split at the information sign. From there, two variants lead through varied terrain to the summit of the Gargellner Köpfe at 2,482 meters. You can find more detailed information on the route and difficulty levels in the topo.
Descent
Directly from the summit cross, a wire-rope-secured wall step leads down to the gradually flatter ridge. Once the wire ropes end, sure-footedness is required: a steep gravel path takes you to the avalanche barriers above the top station of the Gargellner Köpfe chairlift.
From there, follow the road and you’ll reach the top station of the Gargellner Bergbahnen in about 15 minutes.
