via ferrata Röbischlucht

Access

From the Gargellner Bergbahnen parking lot, follow the Suggadin mountain stream downhill until about 50 meters past the Hotel Mateera. There, cross the main road and follow the forest road uphill. Then turn right, cross a narrow wooden bridge, and follow the course of the Röbibach stream until you reach the start of the steel cables.

Route Description

The via ferrata leads along the Röbibach stream through the impressive Röbischlucht gorge. In the narrow gorge, you’ll alternate between rock, water, and short stream crossings. The route is varied but not too long, and with an average difficulty level of A/B, it’s well-suited for beginners and athletic children. Only the final rock step at the exit is somewhat steeper and requires a bit more concentration.

Descent

The descent follows marked hiking trails past the beautifully situated Ronggalpe back to the center of Gargellen.

The starting point is the valley station of the Gargellen mountain railways or the center of Gargellen.

By public transportation:
With the Montafon regional bus and the Montafonerbahn, you can travel comfortably and flexibly throughout the valley. Trains and buses connect the towns regularly, every half hour or every hour depending on the route. Find your connection here. Bus stop at the start/end of this tour: Gargellen Zentrum

By car:
Take the A14 to the Bludenz/Montafon exit and continue on Montafonerstraße L188 to St. Gallenkirch. There, turn right onto Gargellnerstraße and follow it to Gargellen.

You climb the via ferrata at your own risk and responsibility. Please check the weather, current conditions, snow conditions, and difficulty level in advance. Realistically assess your experience, sure-footedness, ability to handle heights, and physical fitness.

Complete, standard-compliant via ferrata equipment is absolutely essential. This includes a hip belt, via ferrata set, helmet, and gloves. Equally important is appropriate footwear: sturdy, ankle-high hiking boots with good traction.

Your backpack should also include sufficient food, sun and rain protection, and a first-aid kit.

In the Montafon, you can rent high-quality via ferrata equipment at select sports shops. Please check in advance regarding availability, sizes, and reservation options.

Warning: Do not enter the gorge during thunderstorms, heavy rain, or high water levels. The via ferrata is intended for ascent only and must not be used for descent.

The Röbi via ferrata can be perfectly combined with the neighboring Rongg via ferrata.
