Winter hike Innerberg with the llamas

As soon as you arrive at the Lamahof, you’ll sense that you’re in a very special place. Before setting off on a leisurely walk with these gentle Andean animals, the first order of business is grooming, bridling and tending to them. Step by step, you’ll trudge alongside the llamas through the snow-covered winter landscape around Bartholomäberg – accompanied by a magnificent panoramic view. With their calm, serene nature, the animals invite you to pause, take a deep breath and forget about time for a moment.

Meeting point: 1:30 p.m. Lamahof, run by Llamero Horst (about 200 metres past the ‘Innerberg Mühle’ bus stop)

Route: Depending on the weather and snow situation

Duration: approx. 3.5 hours (pure walking time: approx. 2.5 hours) | approx. 150 metres of elevation gain

Arrival: Why not just leave your car at home? Our tours are timed to coincide with the bus timetable. You can reach the meeting point by public transport on bus route 640 to the ‘Innerberg Gasthaus Mühle’ bus stop (vmobil.at). As parking is limited, we recommend travelling by bus. If you do come by car, there are free, but limited, parking spaces available opposite the Gasthaus Mühle.

Equipment: 

• Sturdy, waterproof winter or hiking boots with a good tread
• Gaiters (if required)
• Several layers of warm sports clothing suitable for the weather (ideally, the outermost layer should be water-repellent: hardshell jacket, winter hiking trousers/ski or cross-country skiing trousers)
• Protection against the cold (hat/headband, thick/thin gloves)
• Sun protection (sunglasses and sun cream)
• Backpack containing a warm drink, a snack and, if required, a seat pad
• Hiking poles, if required

Hint:

• The hike will go ahead whatever the weather. Should there be any changes, participants will be informed directly by the guide in good time.
• Maximum number of participants per group: 20 people.
• Hiking guides reserve the right to alter the programme if necessary due to factors such as poor conditions, avalanche risk, etc., or participants’ lack of fitness.
