Winter hike to Gaschurn

On this scenic winter walk in Gaschurn, the alpine world of the Silvretta unfolds before you in all its beauty. No wonder that it was here, of all places, that mountaineering made history. With views of the imposing Vallüla and the striking Maria Schnee Chapel, the walk takes you through the snow-covered winter landscape at an altitude of around 150 metres. Afterwards, a guided tour of the Gaschurn Alpine and Tourism Museum is on the programme. It is dedicated to the history of mountaineering and tourism in the Montafon. The tour also focuses on Franz Josef Battlogg, who earned an international reputation as a mountaineering pioneer and an exceptional choir director.

Duration: approx. 4.5 hours (pure walking time: approx. 3 hours), approx. 150 elevation gain

Refreshement stop: in the centre of Gaschurn (at the end of the tour)

Getting there: Why not leave your car behind? Our tours are timed to coincide with the bus timetable. You can reach the meeting point by public transport via the Gaschurn Versettla Bahn bus stop (vmobil.at). If you’re travelling in your own car, free parking is available at the Versettla Bahn valley station car park in Gaschurn.

Age limit: 6 years (minimum shoe size 36)

• Please bring a backpack with food and drink, as well as protection against rain and sun

• The hike will take place whatever the weather. Should there be any changes, participants will be informed directly by the hiking guide in good time. 
• Maximum number of participants per group: 10 people 
• The hiking guides reserve the right to alter the programme if necessary due to factors such as poor conditions, avalanche risk, etc., or participants’ lack of fitness.
