Directions

From the starting point at Gantschier Church, follow the main road for about 5 minutes until you reach the JUFA Hotel Bartholomäberg. Shortly after, leave the sidewalk along the main road and turn left onto the winter hiking trail. Now follow the path past Gauenstein Monastery. After the monastery, take the right turn (Gauesweg). Passing the Vitalhotel Gauenstein, cross the Außerlitzstraße and walk along the street "Auf der Litz" until you reach the Litzpromenade. Follow this to the right. At Tschagguns train station, cross Montafonerstraße and now continue along the Ill until you return to Gantschier Church.

Equipment

Day hiking backpack (approx. 20 liters) with rain cover, comfortable and waterproof winter shoes or sturdy hiking boots, possibly crampons and gaiters, warm and weatherproof clothing in layers, hat/headband, scarf, gloves, sun and rain protection, provisions and drinking water, thermos with hot beverage, first aid kit, pocket knife, mobile phone, possibly headlamp, map material, possibly trekking poles
