Tour description

The Culture and Art Trail takes you to historically and culturally significant sites in Schruns and connects the historic town center with the Litz Promenade and a scenic high-altitude trail.

The Cultural and Art-Historical Village Trail brings Schruns’ history to life on a leisurely walk. Passing by significant and historic buildings, the route takes you through the historic town center and along the Litz River. Along the way, Schruns reveals its small-town character from various perspectives.

The summer route leads from the town center along an elevated path on the outskirts of the village. From here, a picturesque view of Schruns opens up, giving you a good overview of the town and its surroundings.

What is the Montafon Alpine Mosaic?

The Montafon Alpine Mosaic showcases the scenic diversity of the Montafon. Four themed areas—Verwall, Silvretta, Rätikon, and the valley—illustrate how geology, nature, and the cultural landscape are interconnected.

Along 34 themed trails, you can discover the unique features of these diverse landscapes. Starting points, themes, and stories along the trails continually offer you new perspectives on the Montafon.

So: Choose an exploration area, lace up your hiking boots, and discover the diversity of the Montafon step by step.

You can find more information about the Montafon Alpine Mosaic HERE.

Directions
From the trailhead at Kirchplatz in Schruns, the trail first takes you along Silvrettastraße toward Hotel Taube and Hotel Löwen. After about 300 meters, you’ll pass the cemetery and turn left onto Bergbahnstraße. Follow this road to the end of the parking lot at the valley station, where a narrow footpath leads back toward the town center.

At Jakob-Stemer-Weg, cross the street and continue along the school building on Kaiserlindeweg. At the end of the path, keep left twice to return to the cathedral. Passing the Kurapotheke, turn right onto Dorfstraße. After a short stretch on Silbertalerstraße, cross the street and walk over the bridge.

On the other side, keep left and follow Kronengasse. At the Hotel Krone, cross Außerlitzstraße at the crosswalk and walk past the Hotel Litz to the Litz Promenade. Follow the promenade downstream before crossing the Litz River after about 300 meters and continuing upstream along Dr.-Vonbun-Weg.

At the next intersection, follow the signs toward Schruns Train Station. The path leads you to the roundabout and the Schruns Tourist Information Office. The train station is across the street; pass it on your right. After about 200 meters along Bahnhofstraße, you’ll reach Kirchplatz again, where the tour ends.
