Several routes in the C section provide variety for advanced via ferrata climbers. A special highlight is the suspension bridge, accompanied by an impressive view of the Vallüla at the end of the Montafon valley. Surrounding the climbing area, a spacious grounds with a water playground, barbecue area, and seating invites visitors to linger.

Access - Directions - Descent

Access

The trailhead is located just a few steps from the parking lot, near the clearly visible Rifa climbing area.

Directions

The Rifa practice via ferrata is designed as a varied loop and offers several routes with different difficulty levels. A rope bridge and beautiful, partly exposed traverses characterize the via ferrata. In total, there are five different ascent and descent options available, allowing you to choose the route based on your skill level and training goals.

Please note: There are several climbing routes below the traverse. Therefore, pay special attention to climbers in the wall area. You can find more detailed information on the individual variants and difficulty levels in the topo.

Descent

Since the via ferrata is designed as a loop, you can ascend and descend via any of the variants.

Getting to the starting point

The starting point is the valley station at the Rifa Climbing Garden parking lot in front of the Tschambreu Tunnel.

By public transportation:

The Montafon Landbus and the Montafonerbahn offer a convenient and flexible way to get around the valley. Trains and buses run regularly between the towns, every half hour or every hour depending on the route. Find your connection here. Bus stop at the start/end of this tour: Gaschurn Klettergarten

By car:
Take the A14 to the Bludenz/Montafon exit and continue on Montafonerstraße L188 to Gaschurn. Before the tunnel leading to Partenen, turn right and then park in the parking lot immediately following.

Important Information

You undertake the via ferrata at your own risk and responsibility. Please check the weather, current conditions, snow conditions, and difficulty level in advance. Realistically assess your experience, sure-footedness, ability to handle heights, and physical fitness.

Complete, standard-compliant via ferrata equipment is absolutely essential. This includes a hip belt, via ferrata set, helmet, and gloves. Equally important is appropriate footwear: sturdy, ankle-high hiking boots with good traction.

Your backpack should also include sufficient food, sun and rain protection, and a first-aid kit.

In the Montafon, you can rent high-quality via ferrata equipment at select sports shops. Please check in advance regarding availability, sizes, and reservation options.

Useful tips

The area around the climbing garden, which features a water playground, barbecue area, slackline, and restrooms, is the perfect place to spend a relaxing afternoon with the family.

This practice via ferrata can also be booked as a guided tour through the BergePLUS program. For more information, visit montafon.at/bergeplus
