The Montafon Alpine Mosaic showcases the scenic diversity of the Montafon. Four exploration areas—Verwall, Silvretta, Rätikon, and the valley—illustrate how geology, nature, and the cultural landscape are interconnected.

Along 34 themed trails, you can discover the unique features of these diverse landscapes. Starting points, themes, and stories along the trails continually offer you new perspectives on the Montafon.

Starting Point
Silbertal, upper station of the Kristbergbahn

Directions
From the Kristbergbahn mountain station, hike toward the Panoramagasthof Kristberg and continue on to St. Agatha Chapel. Passing the chapel on your left, a narrow trail leads you toward the Kristberg Saddle. From the Kristberg Saddle, head toward Dalaas until you reach the Bruderhüsli and Joss Erhard’s hermitage. Then hike back along the same trail to the Kristberg Saddle.

From there, follow the Silberpfad downhill until you reach a wide forest road. Follow this road to the left, past the Wildried lookout point, to the Wildried high moor. At the Burtschabach, the trail leads you out of the valley through the Wasserstubental to the Hasahüsli and on to the Fellimännle Alpine Inn. After that, you’ll alternate between gravel paths and hiking trails, passing the Teufelsbach Waterfall on your way back to the center of Silbertal.

Getting to the Starting Point
The starting point for the tour is the Kristbergbahn mountain station in Silbertal. Please note the Kristbergbahn’s operating hours.

By public transportation:
The Montafon regional bus and the Montafonerbahn offer a convenient and flexible way to get around the valley. The train and bus run regularly between the towns, every half hour or every hour depending on the route. You can find your connection HERE. By car:
Take the A14 to the Bludenz/Montafon exit, then follow Montafonerstraße L188 to Schruns. From there, the road continues into the Silbertal valley to the Kristbergbahn. Paid parking is available at the Kristbergbahn’s valley station.

For this hike, we recommend sturdy shoes with good traction and weather-appropriate clothing. Be sure to bring plenty to drink and a snack if needed.

Treat yourself to a refreshing break at the “Sieba Brünna” Kneipp facility. Especially on warm days, the cool water is just what you need after hiking a few kilometers.

Along the trail, the Panoramagasthof Kristberg, the Hasahüsli, and the Alpengasthaus Fellimännle invite you to stop for a bite to eat.
