Montafon Rätikon round | Tilisunahütte to Tschagguns-Latschau
Tour description
A varied high-mountain stage through the Rätikon, taking you from the Tilisuna Hut past the idyllic Tobelsee and through the alpine landscape back to Latschau.
This stage winds through the distinctive limestone mountains of the Rätikon, combining alpine scenery with idyllic mountain lakes and active alpine pastures. Around Lake Tilisuna and the Schwarzhorn, beautiful views of the surrounding peaks open up time and again.
The Tobelsee and the Alpe Alpila are two special stops along the route. The varied landscape—featuring rocky mountain slopes, alpine meadows, and forests—makes the descent to Latschau a memorable conclusion to the stage.

From the Tilisuna Hut, the marked hiking trail first takes you past Lake Tilisuna and up below the Schwarzhorn to the Schwarzhorn Saddle. From the saddle, the trail descends steeply to the idyllic Tobelsee.
The trail then takes you past the Alpe Alpila and across the Vollspora, continuing down the valley to Latschau.

The starting point for the tour is the Tilisuna Hut.
By public transportation:
The Montafon regional bus and the Montafonerbahn provide convenient and flexible travel throughout the valley. Trains and buses run regularly between the towns, every half hour or every hour depending on the route. You can find the right connection HERE. Bus stop for the start/end of this tour: Latschau Golmerbahn. From there, the rest of the way to the Tilisuna Hut is on foot.
By car:
Take the A14 to the Bludenz/Montafon exit, then follow Montafonerstraße L188 to Tschagguns. From Tschagguns, you’ll reach the higher-elevation town of Latschau. Parking is available at the Golmerbahn. From there, the rest of the hike to the Tilisuna Hut is on foot.
Important Information
Alpine Trail: The trail may include safety ropes and footholds.
For this hike, we recommend sturdy, ankle-high hiking boots with good traction, plenty of food and drinking water, and weather-appropriate clothing. Hiking poles can help you on the ascents and descents.
Tips
The Alpe Alpila is a great place to stop for a quick snack along the way.
