Where theatre meets the mountains: On “Border Experiences on the Zauberberg”, you'll hike through breathtaking alpine landscapes and immersive theatrical performances. A thought provoking experience exploring borders, history, and questions that still resonate today.

In 2026, Montafon once again becomes a stage: With “Border Experiences on the Magic Mountain”, the teatro caprile ensemble presents a new theatre hike at around 1,500 metres above sea level, below the Madrisa mountain.

Across 14 stations and 16 scenes, nature, history and the present day come together in a unique outdoor performance. Accompanied by experienced Montafon hiking guides, you will enjoy a hike of around five hours, immersing yourself in a series of powerful theatrical scenes. At its heart lies one central question: What does it mean to cross borders, whether physical, social or personal?

The performance is presented in German and includes regional dialects. To help English-speaking guests follow the story, an English-language handout summarising each scene will be provided at the start of the hike.

Minimum age: 13 years

Equipment:
Sturdy hiking boots with good grip
Weather-appropriate outdoor clothingSun and rain protection

Optional: Hiking poles

Please note: The hike takes place in all weather conditions. Should any changes become necessary, participants will be informed in advance. Maximum group size: 50 participants.

Registration is binding. No tickets are available on site. If you are unable to attend at short notice, please let Montafon Tourismus know by calling +43 50 6686 or emailing info@montafon.at, so your place can be offered to another guest.
Please note that ticket fees are non-refundable if cancelled by the guest.
A good basic level of fitness is required for this hike.
