Montafon Hut Circuit | Wormser Hut to New Heilbronner Hut
Tour description
A challenging high-mountain hike from the Wormser Hut to the Neue Heilbronner Hut, offering impressive views of the alpine landscape of the Montafon.
The tour winds through the varied high-altitude landscape between Hochjoch and Verwall. Along the way, ridges offering spectacular views alternate with rocky ascents and descents, repeatedly revealing sweeping vistas of the surrounding mountains.
The section below the Valschavieler Maderer is particularly impressive. Depending on the route you choose, you’ll pass either Kessisee and Valschavielsee or the Valschavieljöchle before continuing on toward the Neue Heilbronner Hütte.
What is the Montafon Alpine Mosaic?
The Alpenmosaik Montafon brings the region’s scenic diversity to life. The four exploration areas—Verwall, Silvretta, Rätikon, and the valley—offer different perspectives on nature, the landscape, and culture.
You can find more information about the Montafon Alpine Mosaic HERE.

Directions
From the Wormser Hütte, the trail first leads you up to the Kreuzjoch and then down to the Furkla (Grasjoch). From there, the trail climbs gently to the Wormser Törl and continues on to the Roßbergjoch.
With further ascents and descents, the trail leads through the alpine highlands below the Valschavieler Maderer. For the final section, we recommend the slightly longer route via the Gaschurner Winterjöchle. Passing the Kessisee and Valschavielsee, it continues toward the Valschavieljöchle and finally to the Neue Heilbronner Hut. The shorter route runs directly over the Valschavieljöchle.

Alpine Trail: The trail may include safety ropes and footholds.
There are very few opportunities to refill your water supply along the entire route. Therefore, be sure to bring enough drinking water and food or energy snacks. A hat, as well as protection from the sun and rain, are also recommended.
For this hike, you’ll need ankle-high hiking boots with good traction. Hiking poles can help you navigate the numerous ascents and descents.
