Tour description

A challenging border hike from the Tübinger Hut over the Plattenjoch to the Silvretta Hut SAC in Switzerland, featuring barren rocky landscapes, alpine meadows, and turquoise mountain lakes.

The crossing over the Plattenjoch takes you through two distinct landscapes of the Silvretta. While the north side is characterized by a barren, rocky landscape, the Swiss side offers a high-alpine landscape with mosses and meadows.

Along the route lie several turquoise-colored mountain lakes, left behind in the landscape as traces of retreating glaciers. Crossing the national border and experiencing the varying landscapes make this stage a truly unique journey.

What is the Montafon Alpine Mosaic?

The Alpenmosaik Montafon brings the region’s scenic diversity to life. The four exploration areas—Verwall, Silvretta, Rätikon, and the valley—offer different perspectives on nature, landscape, and culture.

You can find more information about the Montafon Alpine Mosaic HERE.

Getting to the Starting Point

Getting to the Starting Point
The starting point for the tour is the Tübinger Hütte.

By public transportation:
The Montafon regional bus and the Montafonerbahn provide a convenient and flexible way to get around the valley. Trains and buses run regularly between the towns, every half hour or every hour, depending on the route. You can find the right connection HERE. The nearest bus stop is Gaschurn Versettla Bahn. From there, take the Versettla Bahn to the starting point of the trail leading to the Tübinger Hütte. The rest of the way to the hut is on foot.

By car:
Take the A14 to the Bludenz/Montafon exit, then follow Montafonerstraße L188 to Gaschurn. Parking is available at the Versettla Bahn valley station. From there, take the Versettla Bahn to the starting point of the trail leading to the Tübinger Hütte. The rest of the way to the hut is on foot.

Important Information

Alpine Trail: The trail may include safety ropes and steps.

Sturdy footwear is required for this hike. Even in the height of summer, you should bring warm clothing, as you’ll be hiking through high-alpine terrain the entire time.

Tips

Due to high demand at the huts, we recommend that you reserve sleeping accommodations early and directly with the respective huts.
