Directions
The trailhead is located right next to the Mountain Beach Recreation Park. From there, the route takes you along the Ill River out of the valley and then in a wide loop through the adjacent meadows. You’ll cross the Ill River again and head back into the valley toward Mountain Beach. The loop then returns to the starting point at the recreation park.

The recommended starting point is the Mountain Beach amusement park in Gaschurn.

By public transportation:
With the Montafon regional bus and the Montafonerbahn, you can get around the valley comfortably and flexibly. Trains and buses run regularly between the towns, every half hour or every hour, depending on the route. You can find the right connections in the cleVVVer mobil schedule app. The bus stop for the start and end of this tour is at the Explorer. From there, you can reach the starting point at the Mountain Beach amusement park.

By car:
Take the A14 to the Bludenz/Montafon exit. Then follow the Montafonerstraße L188 through the Montafon valley to Gaschurn and the Mountain Beach amusement park. Parking is available directly at the Mountain Beach amusement park.

You'll find restrooms and places to eat in the Mountain Beach amusement park area and in the surrounding area.

You can use the cross-country ski trails in the Montafon for free.

If you don’t have your own equipment, there are various places in the Montafon where you can rent winter sports gear.

The cross-country ski trails are groomed by the relevant municipalities or mountain railways, depending on weather and snow conditions. A sufficient and stable snow cover is required for machine grooming. The current trail status is continuously updated by the relevant staff on site.

Right next to the Mountain Beach amusement park is the starting point for the Große Gortipohl Loop (classic) and the Außerbach Loop (skating). This allows you to extend your cross-country ski loop depending on your fitness level and preferred style.

Thanks to its good visibility, the Mountain Beach Loop is particularly pleasant if you want to improve your technique or complete a manageable loop.
