Directions
The trailhead for the Außerbach Loop is located at the Mountain Beach Recreation Park. From there, the trail first takes you along the Ill River out of the valley and past the Mountain Beach Loop. The trail then continues across the meadows in the Außerbach district. You’ll follow the same path back to the starting point at the Mountain Beach Recreation Park.

The recommended starting point is the parking lot at the Mountain Beach amusement park in Gaschurn.

By public transportation:
With the Montafon Landbus and the Montafonerbahn, you can get around the valley comfortably and flexibly. Trains and buses connect the towns regularly, every half hour or every hour, depending on the route. You can find suitable connections in the cleVVVer mobil schedule app. The bus stop for the start/end of this tour is Explorer. Via the Mountain Beach Loop, you can reach the trailhead for the Außerbach Loop.

By car:
Take the A14 to the Bludenz/Montafon exit. Then follow the Montafonerstraße L188 through the Montafon valley to Gaschurn and the Mountain Beach amusement park. Parking is available right at the Mountain Beach amusement park.

You'll find restrooms and places to eat at the Mountain Beach amusement park and in the surrounding area.

You can use the cross-country ski trails in the Montafon for free.

If you don’t have your own equipment, there are various places in the Montafon where you can rent winter sports gear.

The cross-country ski trails are groomed by the relevant municipalities or mountain railways, depending on weather and snow conditions. A sufficient and stable snow cover is required for machine grooming. The current trail status is continuously updated by the relevant staff on site.
