Tour description

Join Erna as you explore the rural village of Gortipohl and discover, amid traditional Montafon houses, rushing streams, and cultivated meadows, just how closely village life and agriculture are intertwined.

In Gortipohl, the rural origins of the Montafon region are still evident today. Active farms, traditional Montafon houses, and the surrounding meadows shape the village’s character. Here, agriculture is not merely a glimpse into the past, but remains a vibrant part of village life.

On the Gaglaweg trail, you’ll join Erna on a varied journey of discovery through Gortipohl. The trail takes you from the village center to the waterfall, through meadows, and along the Hüttnertobel to the Ill River. A covered wooden bridge, the Kneipp facility, and peaceful paths along the water make the loop a diverse and enriching experience.

What is a Muntafuner Gaglaweg?

In the Montafon dialect, “Muntafuner Gaglaweg” means something like “Montafon Children’s Trail.” For your adventure, you’ll need the Gaglaweg backpack. You can rent one for a deposit at one of our tourist information offices or citizen service centers. Inside, you’ll find everything you need for your hike.
A unique puzzle awaits you on every Gaglaweg trail. Once you’ve solved it, you’ll receive a small gift. You can also purchase one of eleven Erna souvenir jars at a special price of €4.00. Each trail is dedicated to a different theme and takes you through the diverse landscape of the Montafon.
So: Grab your backpack, join Erna, and set off on a journey of discovery together.
You can find more information about our Muntafun Gagla Trails HERE.

Directions
From the Curacy Church, start by walking a few meters into the valley. Before reaching the Family Center’s parking lot, turn left onto the footpath. After crossing the bridge right next to the waterfall, follow the signposted meadow path slightly out of the valley toward St. Gallenkirch until you reach Hüttnertobel. There, hike downstream along the stream. Cross the main road and then the bike path. After that, a covered wooden bridge takes you over the Ill.

On the other side, follow the Illweg into the valley until you reach the Kneipp facility. From there, cross the Ill Bridge near the tennis court and follow the road uphill to the main road. Between the Hotel Alpenfeuer and the middle school, the road leads you back to the Curacy Church.
