Your start in Klosters ​|​ 1​-​day Madrisa round trip

This extraordinary pass hike takes you through the impressive Madrisa massif at an altitude of over 2,000 meters, crossing international borders. Where smugglers once traveled, well-maintained trails now offer you an unforgettable experience of nature. Your adventure begins at the Madrisaland mountain station above the Swiss monastery. From there, you hike over the Schlappinerjoch pass to Gargellen in Austria. Take the mountain railway to the Schafberg and continue your hike over the Gafierjoch and Rätschenjoch passes before returning to Madrisaland and finally taking the train back to Klosters. This one-day tour requires stamina and athletic ability, but it rewards you with breathtaking views. The seven-hour high-alpine hike will probably push you to your limits – so we recommend experiencing the Madrisa round trip with an experienced mountain guide. Equipment

Mountain-appropriate equipment includes a hiking map, hiking boots with treaded soles, hiking poles, a well-stocked first aid kit and, if necessary, a bivouac sack, a headlamp, provisions, rain gear, and warm clothing.

Remember to bring sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses with adequate UV protection. In case of emergencies, make sure your cell phone battery is charged. If necessary, pack a mobile charging station.
