Your start in Klosters | 2-day Madrisa round trip
Take on the challenge of the Madrisa Circular Tour – a sporty, demanding, and breathtaking hike over two days!
For many centuries, trade between Montafon and Prättigau was lively and flourishing. With the establishment of the national border, this exchange became illegal, and so the smuggling of important goods between the valleys began. Today, these routes are once again freely accessible and invite you to enjoy unique nature experiences and fascinating stories. The two-day hike around Madrisa lets you immerse yourself in the era of smugglers and muleteers. Your adventure starts at the mountain station in Madrisaland above the Swiss monastery and leads over the Schlappinerjoch to Gargellen in Austria. After spending the night in the highest village in Montafon, you take the mountain railway to Schafberg the next morning. From there, you hike back to your starting point via the impressive Gafierjoch and Rätschenjoch passes. This extraordinary tour allows you to cross the border into Switzerland twice. You can expect magnificent panoramic views, diverse geology, and rich flora along the historic trails that connect Austria and Switzerland. Experience an exciting journey of discovery and enjoy the impressive mountain world on the Madrisa circular hike!
