From the Lünersee via the Lünerkrinne to the Rellstal

Approach

Take exit Brandnertal on the A14 and via L82 Büurs, Bürserberg, Brand to Schattenlagant to the valley station of the Lünerseebahn in the Brandnertal.

Country buses run throughout the Montafon. The main lines run every half hour from Schruns station.

From Schruns, you can take the S4/Montafonerbahn to Bludenz, then transfer to bus line 81.

Arrival by train to Montafon

From Bludenz station, the Montafonerbahn runs hourly (sometimes every half hour). There are also direct connections from Lindau (D) and Bregenz.

TIP: The start is in the Brandnertal and the destination is in the Montafon. It is recommended to use public transport.

Directions

From the Douglass Hut, the hiking trail first follows the dam wall and then goes upwards to the Lünerkrinne. From here, it goes downhill towards Vandans, past the Heinrich Hueter Hut to the Alpengasthof Rellstal. From there, there are two options to hike to Vandans: either along the gravel road or on the right side of the creek via the creek path - this is recommended only for experienced hikers.

Remember: From the Alpengasthof Rellstal, a hiking bus goes to Vandans! Please check the bus times in advance.

Day hiking backpack (approx. 20 liters) with rain cover, sturdy and comfortable footwear, weather-appropriate and durable layered clothing, optional telescopic poles, sun and rain protection, provisions and drinking water, first aid kit, pocket knife, mobile phone, optional headlamp, maps

Tips

From the Alpengasthaus Rellstal, a hiking bus (timetable) goes back to Vandans, saving you about 8.5 km of walking.
