Hiking: Hiking on the smugglers' path in Gargellen

Where smugglers and muleteers once roamed, there are still easily accessible trails today. In a varied circular hike, the Smugglers' Trail leads over the St. Antönier Joch (2,379 m) past the Gafiersee (2,290 m) to the Gafierjoch (2,415 m). There is plenty to discover on this circular hike through the border area between Austria and Switzerland – including shy mountain dwellers such as marmots, chamois and ibex.

Meeting point: 9:45 a.m. at the ticket hall of the Gargellen mountain railway valley station

Route: Gargellen mountain railway mountain station – St. Anönier Joch – Gafiersee – Gafierjoch – Speichersee – Gargellen mountain railway mountain station

Duration: approx. 5.5 hours (pure walking time: approx. 5 hours)

Ascent and descent: approx. 600 metres

Refreshment stop: Schafberg Hüsli (Gargellen mountain station)

Registration: by 7 p.m. the day before

Equipment: Bring a rucksack with food and drinks as well as rain and sun protection.Hiking boots with treaded soles are required.

Notes:
The tours can take place in any weather, short-term route changes are possible (depending on the weather). Dogs are not allowed on this tour. The hike is not possible with prams or handcarts. Participants must be physically active.

Refunds for cancellations by customers: Please note that a 5% cancellation fee will be charged for cancellations of tours that have been booked and paid for.

Important note:
Our BergePLUS tours take place with a minimum of 3 registered participants. The regular registration deadline is always 7 p.m. the day before. However, if the minimum number of 3 people is not reached by 3 p.m. on the same day, the tour in question will be automatically closed and registration will no longer be possible. Guests who have already booked will of course be informed by us in this case. The children's programme is exempt from this rule – it takes place with just one child.
