Montafon hut circuit | Neue Heilbronner Hut to Silvretta-Bielerhöhe
Tour description
From the Neue Heilbronner Hütte, via the Verbellaalpe and Kopssee, to the Silvretta-Bielerhöhe: The Vallüla Trail takes you from gentle alpine meadows into the rugged mountain landscape of the Silvretta.
The highlight of this hike is the Vallüla Trail, which takes you step by step into the Silvretta mountain range. As you go, the landscape changes noticeably: gentle flower-filled meadows give way to the rugged crystalline rock of the Silvretta.
As you gain altitude, the high-alpine mountain world becomes increasingly prominent. During the final third of the hike, the Silvretta glaciers accompany you and offer breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks.
What is the Montafon Alpine Mosaic?
The Alpenmosaik Montafon brings the region’s scenic diversity to life. The four exploration areas—Verwall, Silvretta, Rätikon, and the valley—offer different perspectives on nature, the landscape, and culture.
You can find more information about the Montafon Alpine Mosaic HERE.

Starting Point
Neue Heilbronner Hütte
Directions
From the Heilbronner Hut, the farm road first takes you to the Verbellaalpe and on to Lake Kops. That’s where the Vallüla Trail begins, leading you first to the idyllically situated Lake Vallüla.
You then follow the signs toward Bielerhöhe to the upper mountain lake. Between Vallüla and Kleine Vallüla, the trail leads uphill over large boulders to the pass. From the signpost there, you’ll reach Bielerhöhe in about 1.5 hours.
Shortcut: At Kopssee, you can shorten the hike by taking the bus from the “Kops Gasthaus Zeinisjoch” stop to Silvrettasee, saving about 13 kilometers or 5.5 hours. This bypasses the section along the Vallülaweg.
End Point
Silvretta-Bielerhöhe
Important Information
Alpine mountain trail: The trail may include safety ropes and handholds. Sure-footedness is required for the Vallülaweg. The trail from Silvretta-Bielerhöhe to Lake Vallülasee is suitable only for experienced mountain hikers.
Due to the high-alpine terrain, we recommend that you wear sturdy footwear with a good grip, weather-appropriate clothing, bring sufficient food and drinks, and carry sun and rain protection.
Tips
Due to high demand at the huts, we recommend that you reserve sleeping accommodations early and directly with the respective huts.
