Kuratie-Kirche Gortipohl

St. Gallenkirch-Gortipohl

Kuratie-Kirche Gortipohl | 6791 Gortipohl
The first chapel was consecrated as a filial church of St. Gallenkirch by Bishop Stefanus in around 1503. Following its destruction by an avalanche in 1694, the present branch church was handed over for its intended use by Bishop Ulrich of Chur. The high altar designed in the Empire style dates to 1852 and is dedicated to the church’s patron St. Nicholas. The organ is from the 17th century and thought to be the oldest in the Montafon.
